Oh, like this stuff? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pllQ_-ZxEA Of course, this is a romanticized view of it, with the fancy music and stuff, making it sound all mystical and stuff.
Maybe it is, I dunno. We idolize Zen Buddhism in the West thanks to .. oh, what’s his face? ah here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shunry%C5%AB_Suzuki – Suzuki. yeah. He helped popularize it in the version we got here.
Then we get the stuff in the movies. That’s mostly how we know about it.
what’s the truth of it? I dunno. Maybe a locally made documentary about it. I’ll see what I can find.

oh screw this. I’m not even 2 minutes into it and I’m like wtf. yeah, no I’ll scratch Buddhist monastery off my retirement plans, at least not a Japanese one tongue emoticon maybe one of the more lightweight ones. Still overall, doesn’t matter which one. The one I was at (Eastern Orthodox) was good, but I’m not holding myself to that one in any case. A secular one is fine too – planned community of some kind.. although most secular epicurean communities fall apart eventually.

Oh wait a minute – this is no different than US Army Boot Camp. These are are young people. Ok, yeah, it’s not so different. It’s like military discipline. Same idea.
