You’re probably right. I judge people in my generation range more harshly because, unless they were raised in bubbles I _know_ what cultural influences they were exposed to and I know the source of at least SOME of that hollow nihilism they feel – the part that comes from a common Western entertainment era.
So I don’t know Trump’s influences as much, I don’t know his hollowness. But I know some of Elon’s and likely some of Jr’s sadly (but Jr’s is combined with a lower IQ than normal which makes his case even worse)

Where I’ll give Trump and Musk both credit is they’re each able to latch on quickly to what the audience seems to be expecting and projecting it back at them, as if it’s their own.
Twitter is the perfect environment for that – for them.
Trump is also able to do it in crowds; ad-hoc, or at least could for a little while in 2016 (a little coke /adderall certainly helped – “i’m high energy guys lol” – yeah. We can tell.) So I’ll give it that.
