I hope I am an exception here.in standardized testing, I scored well on everything except for one very stand out:Reading comprehension.
I didn’t know what that meant until a few years ago.
I score between 45% and 62% each time if i remember right. i can check. Guessing.
what I learned a few years ago is no Reading Comprehension means that I can’t see context without a lot of conscious work.
there’s apparently a “normal way” to think or assume.
I lack that.
“what is the best title for this article?”
“what did the author mean?”
I could never answer those.
it doesn’t bother me that I can’t do what i can’t do.
I just compensate as best I can.
One of the ways I compensate is being very explicit because I do better with explicit.
if there was an implied meaning it’s unlikely I will catch it unless I have experience.
I believed that’s what you were saying as well; that we don’t all have shared experiences and that it makes a difference.
The reason I restate it several different ways is to be sure I understood you because I often misunderstand people.
it’s a reflection on my cognitive flaw
my goal is always mutual understanding.
I have no idea where those words came from. Communication is weird but fascinating.
