You would have absolutely fit in. My appearance on It was just luck that’s all – and I fell in love with chat rooms, BBS’s, mailing lists, immediately. It was like CB radio, which I’d dabbled with, but far better and I could type instead of talk, which by 17 I’d reached 110 wpm on Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing – which I’ve maintained — now in the days that nobody cares about typing speed anymore….
..because data entry isn’t even a field anymore, which is good.
Anyway, internet’s a great place overall. I still love it. I was and still am an advocate. Only thing I didn’t expect were the gangs and raids. That surprised me. But I love the subcultures.
