Now, I HAVEN’T found any slave-owners in my past yet but I still might.

I got a couple of lines that go back to 1600s and before. I got their names and stories and stuff. With others, I’m lucky to find an immigration record from 1875.

But I CAN’T imagine my whole tree just stops after a few generations back.

Like, you get Ma and Pa. Pa works hard, passes $ onto kids. Some kids make $ off Pa’s starting money and get more, or keep a house.

Then after a few generations, you get born and you’re standing on top of the family heap they built.

“self-made” is a myth. Most people just don’t want to look how they were made. It can get gross.
