et’s try it this way:
You probably like him MUCH MORE than I like or dislike him.
I mock because that’s what I do.
He’s only six months older than me so I mock him a LITTLE MORE because he is SO TYPICALLY GEN-X – and the side of Gen-X that DRIVES ME NUTS because I grew up with dozens of people EXACTLY LIKE HIM.
But that’s not _him_ per se that I’m not liking in that, but that he’s so stereotypical for my generation in the ways that I never liked, from long before I heard of the guy.
You know more about his personal life than I do.
Here’s what I pay attention to:
a) he’s my age. Does typical Gen-X things. ANNOYING.
b) He’s a celebrity who talks a lot. Ok, I can mock him.
c) He’s a futurist in ways I disagree with. That’s where the “populating other planets thing” comes in. A million to mars? Marketing gimmick or pie-in-the-sky or worse, make a reality. None of the 3 do I approve of.
d) That’s pretty much it.
I’m Aware of his several kids and I remember his one wife the young Twitch star, and heard celebrity gossip about other things around him. But that’s just standard celebrity gossip like Dolly Parton or that guy who played the President but diddled some drunk 14 yr old boy in the 80s whose name I forget – just gossip. I share and spread it too but don’t care about that stuff.
