You can learn a lot by memes. GenZ is very much online and memes are a common outlet for expression. Some are clear, some are very abstract and /or thick with levels of irony but there’s abundant self-expression
It’s a whole different set of languages and it’s not always clear who the source or audience is. Different types of memes tend to appeal to different interest groups.
People from kids to early 30s (and some older) use and create memes on a regular basis. Usually they’re humor but there is often some deep truths in them. Other times its political; attempts to sway opinions and stuff. Sometimes it’s just pure absurdism.
But the #1 question most memes ask of the viewer is:
“Is this relatable?”
