Yes, very much. For a direct vestibule, the LAN is the building interior, the FIREWALL is the vestibule and the one or both of the doors (ports) are shut from the outside (WAN).
It’s my goal.
At this point, the vestibule is my metaphor for a “mixing zone”. That can involve choices. Or not choices. Control or not control. Specifics or general.
It can act as a gatekeeping function such as firewall or a function in a computer program. Or an airlock in a space station. Or there can be two colors on other sides with the mixed color in the middle.
It’s not final but it’s the absolute best analogy I’ve found yet that so far seems to be capturing all the different things I’d been looking at over the past 8 years.
I have to make it flexible: a vestibule is also a long hallway for example. Or a porch. It has a lot of synonyms.
