I once looked up the relative speed improvements of ‘fastest typing speed” vs stenographer speed. Stenography beats typing in wpm -HOWEVER – if you abbreviate using custom macros with your keyboard in a similar way to how shorthand abbreviates english, then you’d get the same practical improvement in speed that way.
The one really clever invention I think is the court reporting keyboard that uses chord typing. Oh, I’d wanted to learn that once upon a time and tried. But my brain just couldn’t do the chunking. I loved the idea of the speed though; thought collecting has been my obsession for life.
