Yes – I mean I didn’t REALIZE it until I actually _WROTE_ IT that it’s Shannon that tied it all together.
Funny tie in: In “Philosophy of Religion” class, somebody asked a question for a discussion assignment today: (maybe a few hours ago):
“What do you do when someone rationally challenges your belief? How do you respond?”
and my 250 word minimum response was basically:
“I don’t know what i believe until I write it or say it”
and then I expanded on the consequences of that using the authors we read in the chapter about ‘faith and reason’ to tie it into the class material.
But yeah, just now the mystery of “WHY DO I LIKE CONVERTING THINGS FROM ONE FORMAT TO ANOTHER?” is solved. It’s because I’m obsessed with Shannon Information Theory and whether content is degraded or purified — perhaps “compression of content as tool for removing noise”… perhaps…
