Yeah I read up on it the other day when you mentioned it.
Women’s shelters are an interesting anomaly. This is one area that the USA has a long way to go.
I’m glad that battered women’s shelter’s exist.
But there should be more battered men’s shelters.
There also should be battered “anybody welcome” shelters.
At present, there’s not many resources for abused men to go to (except online to join anti-women groups I suppose) and fewer for battered transgender to go. Maybe in big cities or near universities but nowhere else.
So, there’s definitely some significant gaps that could be filled here.
I’ve known of four men in real life who were battered husbands. Not much they could do really. Going to police won’t get you anywhere. Going to family or friends is useless ’cause they’ll just tell you to “man up”.
They may be the minority but that’s precisely why they should have some assistance.
Regular people doing regular things regularly already have all the regular help they need for regular things.
