Consider: Why are children capable of starting school at the age of 5 years old?
Answer: Because they can be reasoned with.
They’re sent off on their own to be reasoned with by non-parents.
Why do they go back home to be yelled at by their parents, after 7 hours being reasoned with (and bored to tears) by non-parents?
Cognitively, around the age of 7, parental influence is pretty much over anyhow. Entertainment, peers, other adult figures take their places as parents are seen rather fondly yet pitingly by the children, because the parents continue to treat them as if they’re younger, or suddenly expect them to be adults.
Basic child psych stuff. Actually, just remember what it was like to be young. You weren’t wrong back then about the adult world around you.
