“whiz kids” 80s / 90s hacker… and 00s…. 10s… 20s… 30s… 40s… 50s.. But “criminal”‘s a relative thing.
Getting out of of getting caught is key and when you get caught (which happens if you don’t stop criming), appeal to the lowest level powerful enough to make things go away. So far, so good.
I’m from whiteboi New Jersey suburbia – although we had mafia families plenty around. (pizza place, butcher, card store, a place that sold reel to reel movies and the guy just sat there all day with NYC cars parked there). So, I guess it was in the air? But I never got involved. Knew a kid who’s dad did though… had an apartment all to himself with EVERY computer/vid game that existed. 15 yr old kid alone with 5 cats. Never talked about it but town rumor was that dad didn’t pay back on time.
All in a 1 sq mile suburb.
Roselle Park NJ. I’ll name it. When I see gangster (italian type) stuff on TV, I laugh. They get some right but so much wrong. Black ganstas weren’t a thing although we had puerto rican gangs. They were scary and I left just as the Russian mobs started buying real estate but now I hear it’s all Indian and Mexican which is better. Racial stuff is boring but ethnicity stuff is fun – and you’re welcome!
