Oh, I believe white privilege is real. I know it is. I have “nerd privilege” and I’ve used it to my advantage.
I’m 6′ tall, dress slovenly, wear glasses and I use words when I talk.
I’m no smarter than anybody else but because I *look like* someone who’d be smart, just as someone who is white generally looks more trustworthy than someone who is not, people listened to me more when I talked.
White privilege is real. Male privilege is real. I’m glad I’m a white male in the USA at this point in history. I don’t feel ashamed for it. At the same time, I know people who aren’t white and male have to work harder to get the same level of automatic respect. It’s gotta suck. I could tell my comparable tales, so I understand.
