White people thought “ok now everything’s fine!” but oops, white people were wrong.

Disagree with the OP. Maybe in some far off future, sure. But removing a description doesn’t solve problems in every situation. As a white male, I believed that race/identity/religion doesn’t matter. Ultimately, I *still* think it _shouldn’t_.

But it does make a difference. I’m a white guy. I could say, “I’m a human” and in a lot of situations, that’s fine and dandy.

Did black nationalism cause white nationalism? No. White nationalism came first, long before black nationalism. White people thought “ok now everything’s fine!” but oops, white people were wrong.

So after years of saying “I’m human – those adjectives don’t matter”. Now I say I’m a white male. It’s freeing actually.

“grown up” just means even-keeled. Rational. Not angry all of the time about something or somebody.

I went by tone. Tone has weight – in case you weren’t aware. But yeah, I’ll step off high horse now. It’s fun though up here, but I might be getting a nose bleed.

I’ll give an analogy: Were you ever in a noisy room and somebody steps in, usually somebody’s Aunt and yells, “EVERYBODY SHUT THE HELL UP ALREADY!”, making themselves the noisiest person in the room in the process?

Well, yeah, it sounded like that.

That’s the problem with the OP. It’s a nice platitude, maybe even a nice personal motto. But to try to apply it to everybody, including those who say “Hey, I respect my heritage” ends up being divisive rather than accepting and tolerant.

===

Interesting flip around there but I see your point. [I’ve never been good with implications]

I dunno honestly. I just think when someone’s in a public service position they have to hold to a higher standard.
