while correlation =/= causation and yes it’s possible that it should be identified as “something else” but the ADD type of ADHD is me. There’s SOME overlap of symptoms into autistic spectrum but other genes make autism far less likely for me. I doubted ADD/ADHD for decades as being a real thing but once I saw “hyperfocus” as a potential part of it, it started clicking into place. Also helps in understanding why I’m more attracted to coffee/cigs and speedy things in general than anything that’s “slowing”.

But it’s looking like it might be a combination of risk genes that come together to produce the chance of having the symptoms.
