Most of these memes are much older than that. A lot of 2009 memes and a splatter of 2011 memes plus a few 2013s.

Some of them might be older still but I only really started noticing meme subculture shifts around 2009 and I’ve been paying attention since.

I remember that song! Back in the awesome days _before_ commercial outlets figured out the “viral formula” and started using it for their business ventures.

I spent a few years on Vine (RIP) so I had the pleasure of seeing Vine memes just as they came out and before they spread. It was fun ’cause you never knew what random thing would skyrocket next.
