MOST DEFENDERS OF TROPE METAPHYSICS have maintained that particular objects should be reduced to bundles of tropes. Part of the attraction of a trope metaphysic is the work that tropes can do for understanding the nature of both particulars and universals. On one hand, what we call ‘universals’ can be conceived as resemblance classes of tropes. On the other hand, particular objects are nothing but pluralities of tropes satisfying certain conditions…
