I had a decent following (around 15,000) so hopefully I inspired a couple of folks along the way.. somehow.. with something.
Ooh, came across this one. I was happy with this one. Finding workable metaphors can be tricky, particularly knowing you have to leave the metaphor long before it stops working as a metaphor. [if you overuse it you can constrain the student’s thinking].
I saw this ancient device, a shadoof, and could see a way to show a distinction between quantum fields vs a quanta.
Next step of course is to put the shadoof into the river along with the shadoof user and have it all constructed of river because all there is is river which shouldn’t be TOO hard… but I didn’t go further than this.
OR, I could show the absurdity of imagining you’re sitting outside of the universe drawing buckets from it.
