Within Theoretical Physics, I prefer the theories that are testable and leaving the sci-fi stuff to the spheres of science fiction, pure mathematics and newly forming religions.
They’re inspirational for a lot of people though, but that side of theoretical physics to me isn’t science per se but religious in nature.
I’m a fan of chemistry as it’s less theory and more “do”.
[when is the last time you heard of a theoretical chemist?]
I also like the places where chemistry and technology tie together and the interesting directions things are going into as they try to tackle the engineering feats down at the subatomic levels. it’ll lead to more interesting toys for us to play with.
Ooh I add my vote for neuropsychology as well. Cognitive Psychology is a very strong interest of mine. It puts some ‘teeth’ to a lot of psychology and philosophy.
