What’s weird about it is that in my cognitive research, it barely has been showing up. I’d entirely forgotten about it until I came across an old note I wrote to myself in 2013.

What’s weird about it is that in my cognitive research, it barely has been showing up. I’d entirely forgotten about it until I came across an old note I wrote to myself in 2013.
I did a lot of writing ABOUT it as I was looking for it but I forgot it existed entirely.
In May 2013:
” if you can enter a state of Flow – allowing procedural/implicit memory to engage – everything happens automatically and effortlessly….”
and
“What motivates impulses? If you find what motivates impulses, then you find the key to activating procedural memory and doing things that you don’t feel like doing by linking them to things that are impulses”
From 2013-2021 I only found a couple of mentions of procedural memory in my notes, related specifically to music and forgot that I had this general goal, which was to automate proper thought and proper action.
