What’s sad when I come across “the grand narrative” during conversations is what a waste of intelligence it is. I suppose it’s something to do and there’s enough involved in the roleplay that it continues, much like Matrix affectionados or Tolkeinites. As long as it doesn’t intersect with real life, it’s mostly harmless. But when it affects actual public policy, it’s bad.
