What started me on a quest for weird American patriotic films?

JUST discovered Vince Collins tonight. Odd route: I was looking for weird patriotic American films on archive.org and I saw “200” by Vince Collins, which was commissioned / used by the United States Information Agency in 1976 as a Patriotic piece – but there was enough sublime stuff in there to know the artist was subversive.

Trying to find a better copy, I look at Youtube and find a brighter, more colorful copy than what was on archive.org. I thought “hey the name of that account is familiar – where did I just see that?”

Looked at other videos: and it’s the VERY SAME artist who made 200 in 1976 ALSO uploaded it to Youtube in 2009 AND ALSO is continuing to make NEW animations AND is on Facebook.

So, I’m happy. This song has a Jack Stauber vibe. I think Jack Stauber was HEAVILY inspired by Vince Collins — so it is Jack Stauber who has a Vince Collins vibe.

What started me on a quest for weird American patriotic films? That’s another story. Finding Vince Collins was the gold I didn’t know I was panning for.
