“What is the point of having more than you need?”
How far of a stretch can needs go? Example:
Items that are used wear out and need to be replaced.
So, you can have what you need up through some future point that will then stop working and then need to be replaced.
So, this could justify many future replacements, which will include the items, their storage and their costs. Costs could be stored somewhere or put to use in the meantime.
So, how long do you store up for? One’s own lifetime? Or do you store up enough for the lifetime of your children and their descendants?
There’s a point where a needs-across-time justification will itself wear out as an excuse and need to be replaced with an upgraded justification or itself thrown out altogether.
