What is doing the act of communicating? The answers are hiding in the questions.
I have a loose view of communication. Throwing a ball and catching it is an act of communication for example.
Aboutness can be hard to determine.
As a boy, I did terrible at “What is the author’s intent?” questions. To me ,it was like trying to mind read with words on a paper.
Other kids did great at that task. Not me. Never figured out “the trick”.
In retrospect, I’m probably on the autistic spectrum, or ADHD or one of those things.
I had a reason for this relating but I don’t remember what it was
Basically, for me to figure out intent, I have to KNOW EVERYTHING about someone.
That’s impossible (for me), as I have enough trouble knowing everything about myself, despite that being a full time project I’m always on.
I know some shortcuts I didn’t know in grammar school though. But it’s just tricks to hang my concepts on.
