What did the Web look like

What did the Web look like before web browsers and http? Well, one thing they had is something called Gopher. It competed with http and lost. It looked like this: http://retro.naplesplus.us/

( I made it in 2008 – was gonna update it in 2011 but didn’t)

I made it a few years ago to show some friends what Gopher looked and behaved like. The only difference is you were able to use arrow keys for navigation – and if you have the right terminal or computer setup, you could even view pictures on it. Boring by today’s standards, but then again, so were the early browsers. Yet there’s not a whole lot of difference between browsers in 2014 and browsers in 1994. 20 years – lots of stuff was added but its the same, flat feeling hypertext world. *sigh*
