Sudden realization: We’re not goal oriented.
We’re anticipation oriented.
When a cat jumps on a table, it’s not so much that it’s their goal to get on the table… rather, they expect everything will be there. They anticipate the table will remain.
So even if you have no goal, you still anticipate. You might be anticipating failure. You might be anticipating uncertainty which can be happy exciting or dreaded exciting or lazy exciting.
It’s not so much what you want or need, but what you expect that makes the difference.
