Well, thing is: us too. That’s what stops me in those cases at least. My t-shirt is made in Venezuela. I look at the label every time. As far as I know, while they have child labor in Venezuela, I don’t think they have it in their textile industry – at least not officially. Still probably made a low wages. But it’s relative. If my shirt says “Made in Pakistan”, I know there’s a VERY good chance it was made with child labor. But then I justify it by saying “Well, they gotta eat too” but I still feel a pang. But what does the pang or awareness do at my level? I’m still consuming the product. Honesty and enlightenment helps me in making some choices better than others, yet do I have the integrity to purchase “ethical textiles only” No, I don’t. And dollar stores: I like them.
