well, right now, it’s a uniparty in power. Republicans can easily stop the shutdown by switching to a “simple majority” – completely in their power to do. They just don’t want to. What’s happening right now is exactly what they want and it will continue as long as they can do it.
Democrat party at the moment has no power at the federal levels and hasn’t since January. You can blame them for the past but not in the present.
