Well of course, because we’re tethered to the planet of our origin and we’re simply a natural part of the planetary system processes…” but if THAT’S not mindblowning in itself, I don’t know what is.

Cognitive Neuroscience has been one of my ongoing fascinations for that reason: I want to comprehend at some level the gears and levels clicking away, or the chaotic punctuated equilibriums or whatever descriptors are used… and it’s such a deep field with so many angles to pursue it, it’s hard not to be in awe of it all.

Even if our makeup is due to environmental affordances upon environmental affordances, folded together in such a way to end up with me sitting here in my chair typing on the Internet created by these beings who are a result of such processes, it doesn’t take away from my awe but increases it. Describing it is hollow without the wow factor and inbetween all of the knowns are the mysteries, the unknowns…

I mean: why doesn’t it fail more often?

The tolerance levels for the systems seems to function. It’s amazing to me. I could explain it away: “Well of course, because we’re tethered to the planet of our origin and we’re simply a natural part of the planetary system processes…” but if THAT’S not mindblowning in itself, I don’t know what is.

No matter how I slice it, I end up with a “woah”…
