Ah, I’ve been looking for this again. Structure Mapping Engine. Basically, it’s a shortcut for understanding a diverse amount of subjects via analogy and it’s likely how we learn complicated things.

Analogies are good when accurate but can be awful when wrong or misleading.

Nevertheless, as it’s part of how humans comprehend new things (by mapping them to things they already understand), it’s useful to know how it works.

(it’s also excellent for passing school tests)

Nah. Basically, take everybody. Start eliminating groups that are “doing it all wrong” (multiculturalism, feminism, single mothers, etc) and find who remains.

Oh I know. But they self reference as “normal” and that is the politics they play with. It’s a delusional substitution and gets bad when radicalised.

Indeed. Some go back to New Deal. Some go back to prior to the break up of monopolies. Some to prior to Civil War. Some go back to 1803 (Supreme Court). But it’s all a similar phenomenon.

It’s selling a fantasy, which isn’t awful in itself. It’s what folks do with that that can get toxic.
