Well, Dawkins and Krauss are sometimes a package deal in an anti-religion activist crusade. Can’t criticize either ’cause then people in the group think you’re a theist and call you names.
I like string theory and think it’s useful to pursue but there’s other things we can do in the meantime simultaneously. Some can pursue string theory and others can pursue particle physics, smash some atoms to try to fill out the standard model some more.
I mean, think about it: All it takes is a single new particle to wreck a good string theory and then it has to accommodate it.
But I like super symmetry generally and pin my hopes on it.
I like the holes in the Standard Model because it gives us room for growth and discovery. I don’t think we’re even CLOSE to “The Ultimate Formula” because of all that we’ve barely scratched the surface of.
I fear that in some circles, we’re becoming like a lot of Science in the late 19th Century, when they believed that we had almost everything figured out and the rest was just some extra decimal places here and there and then all Science would be Unified as One.
