Web 2.0 was for the Pure of Heart. There’s a few “Web 3.0s” I’ve heard of but I don’t know who it really is, if any. It’s “will the real 3rd Rome please stand up?” But 2.0 was nice. It was all about massive amounts of semantic data — connecting words to other words, meanings to meanings, ideas to ideas, all this marvelous complexity. so much fun. RSS feeds, remixing data, reduplicating sharing everything, everything open, everything free. Then BOOM, everything started rapidly shutting down between 2012-2014. The beautiful free tools. The beautiful sharing. Ads started showing up in places ads should not go. But when DUPLICATING DATA was punished? it was over. Ah well. New era emerged. Lots of new rules from lots of places to follow and everything had a cost, including the costs having costs.

yeah it won’t be a revolution if it’s controlled by a single company in that way. Usually that kind of talks to generate sales revenue.
we’re definitely post web 2.0 but I don’t know the replacement.
Facebook and Twitter are Web 2.0 products. Google is a Web 1.0 company.
Apps emerged. I’d say short-form video could be web 3.0 but that was Vine – with TikTok the most successful evolution of Vine by far.
I dunno really.

[I know Ethereum is decentralized lots of internet things are but the web 3.0 claim seems more a “please invest in our ecosystem” play ,which is fine.
