Was he brought down by people who wanted him out? Probably. Did he do a lot of the things they said? Probably.
But he’s on his THIRD TERM. He’s the son of a PRIOR powerful Governor. He’s both loved and hated, has almost a god-like status – and him stepping down gently today instead of putting everybody through a messy impeachment hearing saved a lot of face for a lot of people, and allows NY government to continue functioning as he said in his bye-bye video.
I think he’s saving a lot of people by stepping down now as he is: there’s likely a lot going on and he knows how things work.
Kathy Hochul will be a great governor and will do good for New York state. Whatever is real or not with Cuomo can come out in civil court free of the burden of governorship — and on his 3rd term is an amazing accomplishment.
If he did the things, which wouldn’t surprise me – and he does not get a free pass for being Italian-American or “just the way things used to be” – well, there’s consequences and he’s man enough to accept the responsibility that goes along with that.
