War is good for business. I don’t know if that was always true but I suspect that is a big feeder of war. People need to eat including soldiers. Munions need to be manufactured which creates jobs. These days there’s lot of money in medicine and people at war get hurt and need medicine and healthcare which helps those industries prosper.
During the Afghanistan, there was a boom for private American companies making loads of money doing who knows what over there, supposedly supporting the war effort – and of course America is a well known arms dealer across the world, supplying whatever weapons are needed for any side of a conflict.
So there’s definitely great financial benefits to war for SOME players.
To be honest, I don’t know how many of these wars really ARE religious in nature though.
Are imams leading the war charge for Muslims?
Are rabbis leading the war charge for Jews?
Do priest and preachers lead the war charge for Christians?
Or do imams talk to rabbis and priests together to figure out common messages to give to their own peoples respectively?
