Fascinating! Usenet is not dead. I went to an ancient Unix box I had an account on to see what’s alive and dead on Usenet.
These Science groups are alive and well with much discussion.
Many people don’t know what Usenet is, or if they do, they think of binaries. But to my happy surprise, people are on there, actively discussing the same kinds of things we chat about here on Facebook.
I discovered which groups had activity (not an easy task in 2016 as Usenet seems to have been forgotten – I almost did) by looking here: http://www.eternal-september.org/hierarchies.php?language=en and seeing which had active postings. I subscribed to them and, lo and behold, they’re alive and well.
