US needs Saudi Arabia. US shale production is up, and OPEC made a deal for now. Both Iran and Saudi Arabia are in OPEC. But Saudi Arabia made a special deal with Russia around 2016 with oil production. Soooo… US-Saudi Arabia-Russia. Do the math.

But Saudi Arabia made a special deal with Russia around 2016 with oil production.

Soooo…

US-Saudi Arabia-Russia. Do the math.

 Tied intimately with oil is arms trade. Follow the arms and you follow the oil. Follow the oil and you follow the arms.US Dollar
“The petrodollar is any U.S. dollar paid to oil-exporting countries in exchange for oil. Since the dollar is a global currency, all international transactions are priced in dollars. As a result, oil-exporting nations must receive dollars.””The oil is traded in US dollars primarily as a handshake and security contract between Saudi Arabia and USA since the 1970’s. “Now, imagine if oil is based on ANOTHER currency?What happens? The US suddenly loses the relative stability of the dollar and has to FIGHT for value. As it is now, we can rest easy – SO LONG AS – we maintain our relationship with Saudi Arabia.OTHER oil producing nations have to constantly fight for their currency value by their exports. US doesn’t have to do that and of course, Saudi Arabia doesn’t.But if we did our economy would be REALLY topsy-turvy in ways we aren’t used to.
=====
Understand this, and you’ll understand why the USA continually works HARD at destabilizing Venezuela. We bad-mouth them constantly. “OH ITS COMMUNISM”. No.

“Venezuela has the largest proved oil reserves in the world”

Now you know.

 ” If management itself is corrupt all bets are off.”That’s corporations. You’re talking about governments? I don’t see the difference.
=====
 Do you know what forces corporations to have ANY quality?Lawsuits.
======
Many governments are the MAJORITY employer in a given nation and do the most to sustain an economy.

Money made by government employees is spent in the private sector but most employment is not in the private sector in many nations but in government..

But they serve many similar functions.
=====
 I don’t want an equality. Do you know what governments can do that corporations can’t?Human rights. Courts. Guarantees.
====
 Look at your average credit card agreement. Arbitration. What recourse do you have? None.
=====
 Refuse to pay, go to jail. Government backs corporations first.
=====
 Without governments protecting corporate property, corporations would handle ALL of their own violence and with no government to provide at least SOME citizen protection, we’re at the whim of corporations.Bad enough as it is with that stuff.
=====
 This is why I don’t see THAT much difference between corporation and governments. At least governments give you a shot at basic rights, a bit of free speech, a bit of power against unreasonable things.Plus, we LEARN ABOUT our citizen rights in school. When do we learn about our rights in our relationships with corporations as consumers? It’s almost impossible.
=====
 Venezuela’s situation is created by the USA over decades so we can grab their crude oil with ease.
=====
 Same reason Saudi Arabia, Russia and USA are working together and ganging up on Iran right now. The OPEC, Petrodollar thing. Only difference with Venezuela is there’s not an arms situation to go along with it as there usually is with oil. They’re just sitting ducks.

  Follow the money not the feelies.
