US is a “nation of laws” – very much “rule of law”. Usually I don’t think of American as worried about politicians or bureaucracy. But they’re worried about getting caught breaking laws. There are so many laws in the USA that it’s nearly impossible NOT to go through a single day without breaking a bunch of them somehow. And we can’t claim ignorance in the USA. Yet, we don’t know all of the laws because NOBODY knows all of the laws. But the law-is-the-law in the USA – unless you know somebody or have enough $$$. Laws exist in every form of government; but the USA is particularly stringent at times.
