Janis, I think you hit the nail on the head. Know thyself, and you know humanity. Have as much compassion for others as you allow for yourself. Seems to be a central tenat in many if not more or all of the world’s religions and ethical philosophies. it’s something I work on constantly – fail at much of the time – but keep trying. It does make you stronger – and sometimes unfortunately you do start to see some people as hamsters on a hamster-wheel, for you start to see those traits in yourself and recognize it in others. It’s not pity so much but understanding. “
