True power is found in adding to someone’s life. False power is found in subtracting from someone’s life. False power is fast, easy and cheap – and quite effective in the short term, but true power takes thoughtfulness, caring, creativity and imagination. True power is messy, complicated, awkward, irritating, involves negotiation, compromise, some yelling, discussion, and especially: listening. But it’s worth it.
