Trivia you probably didn’t know:
All imaging algorithms don’t work equally well for all skin tones. This is not only true for face detection but also for medical equipment.
I’ve been manually fussing with it using ImageJ (a common free tool medical science uses for imaging) and I can see why it’s difficult to get a good balance.
So, this extra work put in by MIT is a big step forward for equity in medical treatment. Early diagnosis = early intervention. Now available for all skin pigments.
