trick i keep forgetting to use then remember again repeatedly for different things. Here’s one example:
Past couple of years when I put something on my skin, I taste it on my tongue. I don’t think I used to but then again, I have no idea as I’ve avoided scented things on my skin for a long time .
So, as a t-shirt whose color I like but whose dye bothers my skin (a certain dark die, probably petroleum based I dunno that I can see in the shirts) but not enough to throw it away, started bothering my upper arms again… I decided to do an experiment.
Some moisturizer that isn’t mine (some all natural thing) i figure i’ll put it on one upper arm but not the other and see if it helps the annoying feeling from the t-shirt dye. [it’s also florida head and i’m sweating and sit outside on my computer on the lanai which adds to it].
So I started tasting it on my tongue and my mind starts a-racing again. YOU’RE GOING TO TASTE IT ON YOUR TONGUE THE TASTE WON’T GO AWAY IT’S GOING TO DRIVE YOU NUTS. WHAT IF IT CAUSES [catastrophic reactions that i have no logical reason to worry about]
and I remembered what to do this time:
Shut up. You’ve been through this before. YES you are going to taste it on your tongue. This is normal for you. You have always tasted it on your tongue. You just keep forgetting that. Stop it. Shut up. Let it go already. Release. Release. Save it for something that matters. Thank you. You’re not needed at this time and thank you for your service.
and i keep that up until the feeling settles – and bring it back when the volume comes up again.
