Today I learned about “type of categorizations” thanks to studies on monkeys and parrots and then I jumped up to human from there. Four types of categorization apparently: taxonomic, schematic, perceptual, slot-filler. This is from a study from 1992 on “slot-filler” categorization towards a taxonomy by 4 + 7 year olds, showing slot-filler categorization.
