Thoughts on Jargonizing:
I was reading up a little on Grounded Theory. I like it. [it’s in Sociology]. Basically, it uses the data itself (their slogan is “All is data”] to build categories from coding that leads to the development of a concept which in turn can lead to a theory.
I watched a video by one of the ppl that started Grounded Theory, Glasner, talking about a concept he called “jargonizing” (back in 2009)
A search on jargonizing came up with this interesting graphic on another site, explaining jargonizing, how ownership of a concept can be shared but some can be greedy.
Interestingly, Sociology is shown as owning the bulk of the concept of “Power” (they were using Power as an example) over Philosophy or Politics, and sharing very little in common with Physics, but some.
