Think about it. Democrats are about communities. Neighborhoods. Unions. So that includes. Bars. Prescriptions Drugs. Marriages. PTA meetings. Sports clubs. Lots of voting things.
NPR is intelligent reporting although they tend towards center-right politically as most standard news organizations do. About the same as Christian Science Monitor in tone and content.
A liberal audience prefers NPR but that’s because they’re long winded and liberal audiences tend to have gone to college and stuff and are used to lectures.
As far as frightened old women at the grocery? I don’t know how you can derive a political party from that. Depends what she’s scared of.
The USA as a whole is center-right. As far as I know, always has been. Even FDR just barely squ eaked a LITTLE bit to the left closer to center… but still right.
Examples of New Democrats are Clinton, Bush, Obama. That’s why it was hard to tell any of them apart.
