They hooked me up to a computer that went up and down with notes and controlled a little video game character way back in 1983 in a little psychiatrist’s office in Cranford New Jersey at the age of 11 to help control generalized anxiety disorder.
It was combined with guided medication/visualization (such as it was at the time) and utilizing something called “QR (Quieting Reflex)” which was of a familiar format: breath in the 6 seconds, hold for 6 seconds, breath out for 6 seconds.
But there’s many variations under many names of this quieting method.
I’ve never been on medication for anxiety. I still have it, it never went away but biofeedback gave me the ability to _notice_ my body’s status and make changes in real time as needed ad-hoc. Management.
Very powerful tool.
