There’s nothing particularly magical about science.

There’s nothing particularly magical about science. it’s a nice methodology occasionally used by humans who are just as flawed as the rest of us. Positioning for power, power hungry, desperate to be published or seen, etc. Such things happen everywhere you go in some form.

I love Sagan – he’s my personal hero in many ways. But you have to remember – he was a spokesperson for promoting science. He wasn’t _really_ anti religion per se – he wasn’t atheist but agnostic – but against the excesses, just as he was against the excesses in politics and science.

In short, WHEN the system works, it _can_ work well. So can any system – IN THEORY. In practice? Eh, hit or miss, hope for the best, try to get a lot of people rooting for you.
