There’s friendly ribbing and bullying. Much different things. Not knowing the difference and calling bullying prosocial behavior is a cognitive issue methinks.

ld nep’s always had potential for bullying tendencies so I’m always giving ‘a talk’ about the line between bullying and joking with friends, trolling and griefing appropriateness and stuff. He calls himself bullyproof but he’s described situations where he was bullied and couldn’t see it – but he’s quick witted, knows how to play dead or talk back quick. School’s a rough place. There’s equals and the strong/weak, and cutting cocky squeakers down to size is different from making an innocent cry from your power over them. He gets it but I keep an eye out.

Two weeks ago he tells me he looked up Asperger’s on WebMD and found it was him. I agreed with his self-diagnosis. He’s really a good kid, I bring up the negatives because we’ve all been there at various points.

I agree. But I’m waiting for someone out in the internet to make a twisted-logic argument that it was bullying and paint Metcalfe as a victim. I’m waiting for it.
