For example, Bill, the Science community can sometimes have a propensity for fads. There’s a flourish of activity around one central notion and many scientific studies are done around a particular fad.
Then it passes. While in the middle of the fad, truths seem absolute that are borne out of the enquiry. Yet, once the fad has passed; perhaps the morals of the surrounding culture has changed, perhaps some decent falsification has come to light, then its passed.
But there’s a lack of critical thinking while in the midsts of the fad or rather, incomplete critical thinking.
Of course critical thinking isn’t the “be all and end all” either.
