The trick for me? Caring about the other person and not about the debate.

I argue against what I actually think as a form of self-growth to help determine what I actually think a little better.

I’m really agreeable; I like agreement; yet I also know some people like arguments. So, I give them what they want. Arguing makes some people happier than agreement. So, in the process, I’ve learned to argue different points of view, even those that I don’t agree with.

I like understanding where people are coming from, and developing empathy for some people is REALLY REALLY hard to do. Latest I tackled was INTJ; three months in a Philosophy forum before I finally ‘cracked it’ and I could see myself from their point of view, argue as if I was one of them… and learned a lot about myself in the process.

The trick for me? Caring about the other person and not about the debate.
